3 Speeches

From Sharl:

I listened to all three speeches tonight. Trump, Clinton and Obama. Can I just say how much I love the Obamas? Classy, driven, balanced, humble….

Here is a nice surprise. The numbers are low but they are diverse and hopefully increasing more than one a year. Women have continually been knocked down only to find another way to continue the battle in a new way.

Although Hillary did not win, I am happy that she has set an example to women to keep at it, to keep trying, to throw themselves at it even when it is hard. She maintained her dignity and did not fight dirty. That is an example that we need for the next woman that will win. If I look at this too cynically at this with men vs women I will lose faith. If I look at it as nothing has changed and we will always have an uphill battle, I will lose faith. This signifies the need for more women to run for more political positions and more leadership roles in companies. This identifies that women need to rely on each other more and definitely without a doubt support each other more.
I like what Hillary said at the end of her speech:

And to all the women, and especially the young women, who put their faith in this campaign and in me, I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion.

Now, I – I know – I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling, but someday someone will and hopefully sooner than we might think right now.

And to all the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.

Now I need to find hope in Trump’s acceptance speech. My hope he is truly going to work to bring America together and do the right things.

Still scared but trying to find the lining.
