Day 4 – The Dunbarbarians rock the Tampa Bay Times Forum

Canucks vs Lightning

Today was a “flex” day, which we used to sleep in and enjoy a leisurely breakfast that lasted through lunch. Dave S made omelettes, which were delish. At some point, the kitchen breakers tripped, because the kitchen appears to be poorly wired for the number of appliances that are provided and that it should support. in fact, power would prove to be an issue on more than one occasion. We phoned the maintenance company, not even ironically called “Jeeves”, because the breaker room was locked (probably so that guests couldn’t actually see what a disaster the wiring really is). After calling, we suddenly remembered our little wiring “upgrade” that disabled the pool door alarm. Andrew was quickly trying to replace the alarm cover when the maintenance guy walked in, so we tried to discreetly hide Andrew and the alarm panel with the curtains and then tried to keep kids from using the pool door while he was here. Needless to say this was not entirely successful, but Jeeves didn’t seem to pick up on the fact that the alarm wasn’t sounding.

Jane, Andi, Risa, Dave S, and a few of the kids made a Quick trip to the outlet-mall-from-hell for the afternoon and Jane lost track of the time AGAIN! Sure, she tried to excuse it by claiming that we had agreed to meet at 3:30, not 3:00… Sheesh, she is going to be quite a problem. The afternoon was pouring rain, and we all got soaked walking between the car and the shops. Jeff and Dave D took a few others to a sports outlet and the smart people stayed in the mansion. Nothing quite like a day of nothing!

Because of a lack of time, we settled for Mcdonalds for dinner. James volunteered to do the pick-up and mysteriously two packs of nuggets were missing when he returned. We suspect a secret nugget binge in the car, with the proof likely hidden under the front seat. We then finally headed off to the Lightning/Canucks game where we met up with the Hipps, making 21 of us at the game. By now it was POURING rain and our lead driver (James) parked about six miles from the arena in what we can only assume was an attempt to save $10, so we all got pretty wet again making our way to the arena. The game started off a little concerning, as Vancouver tried hard to get shut out by Tampa Bay, but they managed to struggle back to score 3 times before losing 4-3. We did at least all get to jump up and cheer 3 times!

Team photographer took a few group shots of the 21 of us and posted the best shot on the Canucks website!

The cheerleaders are on the ice! The cheerleaders are on the ice!

We were home by midnight when most went to bed except the hard core Irish group of dave S, Jeff, James Andrew and Risa who stayed up until 1:00 to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in style, during which time we also upped the ante on future meltdown betting. It’s four days in … somethings gotta give!

Meltdown count: 0
Breakdown count: 1 (breaker in kitchen)
