La Quinta Grapefruit Season

In the light of day (rains gone), La Quinta Resort is littered with ripe citrus trees which we were invited to pick from, lest the fruit “go to waste”. The hot tip of the day was that the best were the ruby grapefruit trees over by the Spa, so that’s where we went.

All of the low-hanging fruit (sorry!) was already picked over, but we did spot a worker with a ladder who kindly helped us out.

The day was a lot of lying by the pool and sitting in the hot tub. Palm Springs is not as hot as you might think in February, dipping down to maybe 5-10 C at night, but by mid-day, in the direct sun, it’s pretty toasty (for a bunch of Canadians).

This evening’s dinner was at Morgan’s, the restaurant that is conveniently attached to our favourite Piano Bar hangout. After dinner we invaded the private dating space of a young couple in order to squeeze in around the outdoor firepit and enjoy some after-dinner bevvies.

Leaving you with a couple of images of the resort…
